51 years ago... I started an incredible few days of what could only be called a civics reality show... Last week I stepped out of the Texas Union to a parade of young men wearing their white Boys State T-shirt and jeans and starting their own few days of a civic reality show... I am betting that the memory of Boys State will be among their most treasured.

For admission into Texas A&M, we value leadership development in our applicants and look favorably on those who have been selected to attend the Boys State program. We view this program as one that brings together students who have exhibited strong academic potential, solid leadership skills, dedicated commitment to service, and strength in character.

It’s unfortunate that more young men cannot have this once in a lifetime opportunity. It has been a life altering event in the lives of many young men over the years. Friendships develop and flourish, dreams are born and human potential is stirred, memories are made while new personal challenges begin to govern career goals–all of this from one short, but powerful program.

I can't explain the impact Boys State made on Traccer and continues to make on him. We talk about his experience on a weekly basis. I am one proud parent that my son was chosen to attend last year and I was so glad I was able to come and see the final day and to see what its all about.
Thank you again for all you do.

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU for an amazing experience for my son! He absolutely loved it! I’m so impressed that you were able to make all that happen in less than a week.

When we picked our son up from this camp, his first words were that it was one of the best experiences of his life. What began as a somewhat uncertain journey ended with both lessons learned and friends for life.
This summer, we visited his sponsor, and our son shared his experiences at Boys State. He especially wanted to thank him for encouraging him to apply. But, most of all, he shared his enthusiasm and will present a quick presentation to the future students in the Spring and encourage them to apply.
We appreciate your time and continued support of encouraging our son and the students of his high school to excel in all they do!

I just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to attend Boys State last week. It was an experience that truly impacted my life. From all the great lessons I learned, to all the people I met, Boys State opened my eyes up to the real world. I know this camp took a lot of effort behind the scenes, which is why I just wanted to say thank you so much for allowing me to attend. It truly was an honor, and it was an experience I will not soon forget.

I made it back home a few hours ago and after catching up with my family, unloading suitcase full of smelly clothes and sleeping...thought I would take a moment to express my appreciation to you and everyone at Texas Boys State for all of the work you all do to make this an educational, fun and memorable event. I had an opportunity to expand my knowledge about government and political processes, learned about consensus building as well as agreeing to disagree! I enjoyed recreation time and especially performing for my fellow statesmen at the talent show....the latter even getting me an invitation to sing at the annual Christmas Festival in my hometown. Thank you again for the many blessings that you helped provide through this amazing opportunity.

I was one of the candidates for Boys Nation this year at Texas Boys State. I just wanted to thank all of you for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow this past week in Austin. What I experienced is truly something that will be branded in my memory for the rest of my life. From running for precinct chair, to running for Lt. Governor, to getting nominated for Nation, and to getting the opportunity to meet Governor Abbot, I can honestly say that though I lost my election and did not get the nomination for Boys Nation, the week has been truly remarkable. You all run a great show and it honestly wouldn't have been the same if anyone else was running it. The failure I faced at the election will be one that sets me up for success for the rest of my life and that's not something you come by everyday. I would also like to say that Patrick Frasier was the best counselor anybody could ask for and that he was so supportive and encouraging all week. I definitely couldn't have asked for a better counselor. Finally, I would love to come back next year to be a counselor, and maybe even come back for many years to come. Texas Boys State is something that has contributed to my life immensely, and I'd like to give back to the program in any way I can. So again, thank you for the opportunity and thank you for such a great week and experience.
